Irish Religious Gifts
Religious Irish gifts may be something you have thought of buying for someone special at some time in your life. Many of the Irish and Irish descendants are very devote Christians and would truly appreciate any type of religious gift. But what kind of gifts are out there? There are three main types of Irish religious gifts.
Irish Statuary
One of the more popular gifts is a statuary gift, either of an Irish saint or the Madonna. You can find these made of Waterford Chrystal, porcelain, brass, metal, stone or wood. Anyone who adores having statuary of religious figures in their house will simply love a gift of this nature, especially if that person likes Irish gifts also. Even if a religious person is not Irish they usually love this type of gift. Sometimes you can find, in Irish gift shops, little pewter or metal statues of many of the Irish saints. This is perfect for the collector of such items or to begin a collection of your own. Some popular Irish saints are Saints Brendan, Bridget, Brigid of Ireland, Columba, Patrick, Livinus, Cumine or Andrew. There are a few hundred more! You could buy that special Irish someone a different statue every year and make it a tradition.
Irish or Celtic Styled Rosaries
Irish rosary beads are also a very popular religious gift. Any Irish Catholic person would love this type of gift, since it would be so unique. The variety available is amazing. You can get beads shaped like green shamrocks or made from 5000 year old green or near-green Connemara Marble. The crucifix itself might be in the form of an Irish cross or a more modern style. A traditional Irish cross might be more meaningful to those wanting an Irish rosary. The cross represents unity we have with our three in one God. Combine that with green beads and a silver or gold chain and you get a beautiful symbol of faith. The faith of the Irish is strong as is the harsh landscape of much of Ireland. You can buy rosaries with pewter, real silver, real gold or metal crucifixes. You can find traditional length rosaries or the one decade kind. Also available are key chains that have one decade of beads on them. It is said the one decade beads where created so that the Irish faithful could more easily hide the objects of their faith from those against it.
Wall Hangings
Irish religious wall hangs are increasingly popular. At the forefront of this is the Irish or Celtic styled cross or crucifix. These can be made of stone, porcelain, pewter, wood or other metals. The Celtic cross is known for the circle that connects the four arms. Some of the crosses available for purchase are exact duplicates of real crosses found on tombstones in Ireland. You can find fantastic designs with Celtic knots or animal figures carved into the cross. The crosses you can buy range in size from those that are meant for a necklace to larger garden stones.
Celtic crosses can be free standing for displaying on a desk or can be for wall use. Some are very three dimensional. As well, you can buy tapestries with Celtic crosses weaved into the fabric in various ways. Even whole table coverings in a variety of colors are available. Items with Irish or Celtic crosses on them are one of the easiest Irish religious gifts to find, although they may not feel quite as religious as statuary or rosary beads, to some people.
A very unique gift would be to buy a gift certificate to a tattoo parlor so the recipient can get a Celtic cross tattooed on their body. You can find other products with Irish cross emblems on them, such as keepsake boxes, pins, mugs, window stickers, diaries, purses, glassware or wallets. The person who collects Irish cross goods has an endless product list to choose from. This is a great Irish religious gift to get a family member or friend.
You can see there are a variety of gifts you can buy. Any Irish religious gift that you buy for a friend or family member will surely please them, especially if they are a person of great faith and a lover of all things Irish.
